Marching Band Info week of 9/30-10/4 (UPDATED)

Given the weather outlook for this week, and our past struggles with all of the rain, we are making a schedule change for this upcoming week of practice. 

Please see our practice schedule below for this week. Monday, Sept 30 through Saturday, Oct 5th.

  • Monday – Color Guard Sectional Only till 5:30pm / No Full Marching Band Practice
  • Tuesday – Full Marching Band Practice till 6:00pm
  • Wednesday – Full Marching Band Practice till 6:00pm
  • Thursday (Updated)- Full Marching Band Practice till 6:00pm
  • Friday (Updated)- Away Football Game at Cave Spring HS – Muster at 5:30pm. 
  • Saturday (Updated) – Marching Band Competition at Glenvar HS
    • 1:30pm   Arrive at WBHS for attendance in the auditorium.
    • 1:35pm Dress and Load Equipment and Props
    • 2:15pm Depart WBHS
    • 3:00pm Arrive at Glenvar HS
    • 3:15pm Watch bands and enjoy concessions. Students should leave the stands after the Northside Performance. 
    • 5:15pm Muster at the designated area. 
    • 5:40pm Warm-Up
    • 6:30pm – Performance
    • 8:15pm Awards
    • 10:00pm Arrive at WBHS
    • 10:30pm Dismissal

Marching Band Info week of Monday, Aug 19th

Marching Band Announcements:

Practice this week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3:40pm – 6:00pm. 

Drum Line Practice: Wednesday – 3:40pm till 5:00pm.

No games this week. 

Uniform Fittings will begin next week. 

Sections are assigned to different days from 6:00pm till 7:00pm. 

Students may leave immediately after they have been fitted for their uniform.

Monday, Aug 26 – Percussion

Tuesday, Aug 27 – Woodwinds

Thursday, Aug 29 – Brass

If a student cannot stay after practice one day, then they will need to stay an alternate day.

Schedule Update for 8/12-8/16

Good day everyone,

I don’t like making changes to our schedule but sometimes it’s necessary.

Due to Back-to-School night we will NOT be having marching band practice today, Monday, Aug 12th.

Our Parent Performance scheduled for tomorrow will be at 8:00pm instead of 7:00pm.

I’m making this change so our students will be able to run through a few things before the performance.

MB practice will begin tomorrow at 6:00pm. Parent performance will be at 8:00pm.

Convocation Performance for Drum Line and Selected Horn Line Members ONLY

Hello everyone,

On Thursday, Aug 8th, our marching band drum line and selected horn line members will be performing at the Bergland Center for the annual RCPS Convocation Event. 

The selected horn line members already have volunteered and know who they are. 

Students need to arrive at WBHS at 7am and will travel by school bus to and from the event. 

Students should wear their band camp uniform which is the maroon band shirt and khaki shorts or pants. Long jeans are acceptable if they do not have the khaki clothing. They will receive their new band shirt at Tuesdays practice.

Our Drum Line will be playing for the RCPS teachers while they exit the event and the Horn Line members will join other RCPS Band members to perform the National Anthem prior to the event.  

Students should return to WBHS by 11am.

Band Camp 2024 is complete! (from Facebook)

Band Camp 2024 is complete!

I am pleased to say that our students worked hard all week and we all feel that much has been accomplished. There will be many pictures and videos shared soon if not already. 😀

Our show theme “Reign” will be a theme to be remembered! We have a parent show planned just before school starts. Date and times will be announced as soon as Monday.

Our next practices will be Tuesday and Wednesday, August 6th and 7th from 6:00pm till 8:30pm. The following week we will practice Monday, Tuesday, from 6:00pm till 8:30pm. Then we practice the first day of school from 3:40pm till 6:00pm.

A special thank you to all the parents and staff that sacrificed thier time and energies to make it such a great week.
