ABOUT OUR COMPETITION
The Blue Ridge Festival of Bands is a Marching Band competition hosted each year by the William Byrd High School Band. The event is organized and ran as a fundraiser by the WBHS Band Boosters, band staff, and students. “The concept of our competition is to offer excellent adjudication and a rewarding experience for students,” said WBHS Band Director Dan Plybon.” Bands are judged on their musical performance, their marching form and precision, general effect (showmanship, guard work, difficulty level, communication with the audience, visuals, and transitions) and given a rating of superior, excellent, or good in the adjudication. This year will be the 27th year the WBHS Band has hosted our marching band competition. The tentative date for the Blue Ridge Festival of Bands is Saturday, October 28th, 2023.

This event is open to the public and is advertised on local radio stations and printed in the local newspapers with attendance at approximately 3,000 to 5,000. This is a great opportunity to support your local high school band program and promote your business within the community. Please consider advertising in our “Program of Events” – a professionally created program that includes the event schedule, photos of band participants and advertisements from businesses in our community. We offer several levels of advertisements based upon the size:

- Platinum Partners ($500) Logo on Front Cover, Full Page Ad, business announced in between bands.
All proceeds will benefit the William Byrd High School Band program. Payments are made to “WBHS Band” which is a 501c Non-Profit Organization. All proceeds are tax deductible.
